superimposing a wedding pict onto a pict of a champaigne glass as though Pict is etched on Glass?
How do I superimpose a wedding picture onto a picture of a Champagne glass as though it is etched onto The Glass but still keeping the dimensions of the Glass and keeping the see through factor by using Photoshop7 (please use simple terms) as beginner
First open both images onto separate layers by opening the glass image, then opening the image with the foreground object, select the Move Tool ('V' on the keyboard) and holding down the shift key drag on top of the glass image. You can then close down the second picture as you have copied it and it frees resources.
Make sure the Layer with the foreground object is selected, Its then easy to cut out onto a transparent background using any selection tool and when you have the marching ants around an object to copy to a new Layer (Ctrl + J). Drag the original Layer with the object into the bin or just click on the visibility eye on its layer. Now you can see the glass Layer below.
Call up the Transform Tool (Ctrl + T) and holding down the shift key to maintain aspect ratio drag the 'anchor points' till you get the size you want, press Enter.
With the same Layer still active select the Move Tool and click and drag where you want the object to be.
Alter the Opacity slider to make the object appear as if its behind the glass.
A few points, the lighting on both the glass and the object must be from the same direction or it looks odd. Its possible to change this in PS, but I'm not going to type all that lot out. Another thing you can do is to use Displacement Maps so the object gets distorted by the glass in front of it, but this is really advanced and I'm can't remember if PS7 had it.
