Snack Cups

Sometimes snacking in the car is essential, such as when taking long road trips, or for those with low blood sugar who need to snack throughout the day. But what kinds of food are best to eat when on the road?
You need two hands on the wheel and both eyes on the road, so juggling a messy sandwich or a hot cup of coffee are not ideal situations. Avoid a claim from your motor insurance provider and pull over somewhere safe while you fill up on some vital nutrients.
If this is not an option, and you have a passenger in the car, then they can help you by passing you drinks and unwrapping little meals. And which foods should you eat? The ideal road foods are the ones which need no refrigeration, do not leave lingering smells and can be eaten by hand; with no utensils expect maybe a paper napkin. Easy to transport and easy to eat, these are the top tips.
Health matters
Eating healthily is also important, so chips and sweets should be avoided. The best car snacks then include fruit such as bananas, ready sliced apples, most berries, grapes and ready peeled and segmented oranges. Chopped veggies, like carrot sticks and cucumber rounds are also great. Whole fruits should be avoided as they can be messy and are difficult to hold while driving.
Wholegrain crackers, with sliced cheese, ham or peanut butter also make a great car snack, as do most types of sandwiches. Sandwiches should be made with on the road eating in mind, so they should be cut into bite size pieces and not contain difficult to bite through fillings. Mini sausages, little meatballs, tiny pies, Scotch eggs and other miniature snacks also make a filling meal for those on the long road.
Packing for safety
When packing, remember to make the snacks easy to reach and easy to unwrap too. You wouldn’t want to ruin your trip with a fender bender or a dented car door because your eyes where off the road while you hunted for a meatball under the passenger seat, now would you? Imagine using that as the reason for a car insurance claim!
Take along a small plastic bag for disposable like wrappings, peels and pips and throw these away in a proper bin. Never throw litter or peels out of your vehicle.
