how do i restore my solid brass bath globe taps and make them shine like knew?

Use a hard-finish stripper to remove any laquer that is on there. (First protect bath and areas with damp cloths or masking tape)
Wash off (easy - it's a bathroom)
Polish using a standard brass polish - untill they shine,
Then clean & buff - remove all lint !
Spray on a clear coat of laquer - using newspaper and masking tape to avoid overspray. (Place sheets or towels over larger areas)

MUST leave to dry - otherwise dampness will cloud the laquer.
