How fast does mold grow in the bathroom of a broken pipe shower?
The pipes burst and was leaking from the walls and ceiling. The owner agreed to lower walls and fix it and now believes that there is nothing there. I have a toddler and I am concerned about the black mold or any mold harmful my son. Does anyone know how long it takes to grow and what do I get tested
It takes 24-48 hours for mold to grow in the dark, warm and humid. If your area has been completely dry within 48 hours and the source of the moisture problem has been fixed, you should be pretty safe from mold growth. Without however, it is best that you keep an eye on the water and moisture stain odor, and that may indicate potential mold growth. If the molds are visible on the surfaces of walls, shaking with borax and vinegar. Rinse with clean water and followed by a rinse with vinegar. Let dry completely. A weekly rinse with vinegar and water is also recommended to prevent future mold growth and disinfect the bathroom. Hope this helps.
