I'm a Tupperware consultant looking for customers to book parties. What is the best way to go about?
I don't want to be pushy, I don't want to be told no. I enjoy selling Tupperware and I want to share it with everyone!
A few ideas:
Don't sit at home waiting to be invited to the party...make your own party! Invite ten friends, but ask them to each bring two friends. Be very up front that this will be a Tupperware party, but let them know they don't need to buy anything. Their presence is all you need. Tell them the point is to have fun, the Tupperware is just an activity the fun can go around.
Put on one heck of a party. Make the presentation fun. Then let each of the people know you can do this at their homes. Trust me, half the people will bite. You've now got parties where you can do a more "soft hard-sell" without offending your friends.
Another idea: send letters to large companies to do a "lunch and learn" program. Include tips on food storage or prep. People in offices like to have a program every month or so where they can bring thier own lunches but share this type of event with co-workers.
Send letters to everyone you know reminding them that you do Tupperware presentations, and if they know anyone who might want to do this type of party, to have them contact you. Using email, this can be done for free. You might want to start the letter with, "Since it can sometimes be awkward when a friend/relative asks for business, so I'm sending you this email instead. Please keep in mind that I do Tupperware parties, which can be a fun event for your next social gathering." I know you'll come up with wording that is more like you, but you get the point.
Walk through town singing, "If you want to, lock in freshness, Tupperware, really locks it in." at the top of your lungs. Once institutionalized, you can gather around the other patients and hold the party...Oh, wait, bad idea. Scratch that one! (Although thinking about it, being able to quote the lyrics to a 30 year old jingle makes it appear likely that I might be one of the patients you run into!)
