A weekend in Brussels
Brussels is the capital of Belgium and a city of contrasts. French and Flemish cultures coexist happily, the real thing yet can be sampled but there are plenty of activities to enjoy modern and cosmopolitan as well.
Although famous for beer and chocolate, there's more to Brussels. An overview of pop art and avant-garde fashion designers and quirky vintage shops give the town a bohemian chic but that is enjoyed by visitors and residents alike.
Brussels is a city of good living and food, coffee culture and bars here offer something for almost everyone. The vibrant atmosphere of Brussels is complemented with Art Nouveau architecture, picturesque medieval streets, squares, beautiful boulevards and spacious parks. If you are looking for a totally relaxing or fun time full of rest, Brussels should be able to please.
To get the best from Brussels to adopt their feet and walk around or climb aboard one of the many tours through the city. Brussels is a fairly easy city to navigate your way around because of their direct and Lower division Upper cities.
The lower town is well known for the Grand Place, the magnificent main square of the city and, possibly, one of the prettiest market areas of Europe. Head here for one of the best views of Brussels and also You can take a look at the beautiful Hôtel de Ville (City Hall). There are several museums in the area to keep you entertained not to mention cafes, chocolate shops and an abundance restaurants.
The upper part of the city is home to the Royal Quarter, a major attraction including the Royal Park and Palace. The upper town is the traditional center the elite in Brussels to house boutiques and boulevards can taste the best of everything here. If antiques or chocolates to tickle your fancy, you should visit Sablon area, where the best of both.
Shoppers are well known high street shops in Port de Namur in the Upper City, but for a real taste of Brussels style, head to the old Exchange building on Boulevard Anspach. Here are the creations of designers and you could come and bag of treasure in the future.
The Rue Antoine Dansaert at Place Saint Géry shopping is another must for those who enjoy order Weekend breaks to Brussels. The area is smattered with a variety of unique storefronts in search of Sass and oozing style. Early birds could get out of Place du Jeu de Balle flea market, an Aladdin's cave of antiques and trinkets.
If you are having a girly holiday in Brussels, there is nothing better A visit to the spa after trawling through the designer boutiques in the Boulevard de Waterloo. The city has several beaches and can enjoy all kinds pleasures, manicure, aromatherapy massage, leaving you relaxed and ready to enjoy the rest of your trip.
