How I can remove a strong rubber (plastic) smell LG Tupperware container that has been closed?

I bought a container of Tupperware 2 liters, sealing tightly. The interior has a strong smell of rubber or plastic. I tried Clorox, detergents, vinegar, leaving it in the sun, and stuffing with newspapers. Any suggestions? I like to bring iced tea for a picnic, but I fear that you will have a bad taste.
